Your child's health and development

Until your child's fifth birthday, health visitors will provide personalised advice and support for their wellbeing and development. This may involve connecting you with other specialists, such as speech and language therapists or psychologists.

Mental health and wellbeing support for parents

Baby Steps provides personalised support for parents of under-2s, helping you build confidence and strengthen your bond with your child. This includes:

  • Guidance on managing behaviour
  • Overcoming sleep challenges
  • Navigating relationships
  • Support if you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or exhaused.

Get in touch at huh-tr.FirstSteps@nhs.net or book a slot at a drop in session at our hub.

Nutrition and weight management

We provide a wide range of support to families stuggling with eating well for less, their child's fussy eating, starting solids or with managing weight.

To find out more please contact our hub.

Oral health

To ensure your child has a healthy mouth, teeth and gums, it is important to build a healthy oral health routine by ensuring they brush their teeth twice a day and get yearly check ups.

You can get advice on oral health or collect oral health kits from our hub.

Smoking and substance misuse

There are specialist medical professionals and recovery workers who can help you get in control.

Understand your child or teen's brain and emotions

This is a reflective space designed to help you lay the foundations for your child’s lifelong emotional wellbeing and mental health. Through short, practical modules, you’ll explore:

  • How to have fun together
  • Their behaviour and feelings, including self-regulation and anger
  • How our brains and experiences shape the way we express ourselves, connect, and respond as adults.

Use our free access code HERITAGE to complete the online module.
